Deepening Ecological Collaboration and Cultivating AI Talent: Data Annotation and Intelligent Data Governance Industry-Education Integration Consortium Visits Volcano Engine Innovation Experience Center

Updated:September 23, 2026

On July 22, 2026, Grouphorse Group, the secretariat of the Data Annotation and Intelligent Data Governance Industry-Education Integration Consortium, organized representatives of faculty and students from several universities in Shanghai to visit the Shanghai Volcano Engine Innovation Experience Center of ByteDance for a thematic exchange. As one of the first companies to enter the Volcano Factory AI Agent Industrial Park and a core ecosystem partner, Grouphorse Group brought consortium member universities to Volcano Engine as an important step toward further advancing industry-education integration resources and deepening university-enterprise collaboration on the basis of their industrial ecosystem partnership.

The visit centered on consortium member institutions. Shanghai Dianji University, Shanghai University, Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, Xianda College of Economics & Humanities Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Maritime University, and Shanghai Normal University are all official members of the Data Annotation and Intelligent Data Governance Industry-Education Integration Consortium; East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics participated as invited institutions. The delegation covered multiple levels, including university administration, professional teaching, and student practical training, with leaders coordinating cooperation at university and school levels as well as frontline teachers and student representatives engaging directly with industry, creating a multi-level and comprehensive channel for university-enterprise dialogue.

At the Volcano Engine Innovation Experience Center, the delegation gained a systematic understanding of ByteDance’s full-stack cloud and AI technology matrix, conducted an on-site review of 17 modality capabilities of the Doubao large language model, and examined industrial applications of multimodal technologies such as image generation, video generation, and music generation. From computing infrastructure deployment to agent ecosystem development, and from digital transformation cases in teaching and research to consumer-facing applications, the Volcano Engine technical team used real-world cases including Spring Festival Gala AI interactions, campus large-model development, and enterprise digital operations to demonstrate the complete path from underlying computing power to scenario deployment, giving university faculty and students a holistic understanding of the technological foundations and application prospects of the AI industry.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on key topics including data annotation talent development, intelligent data governance system building, and the implementation of university practical-training scenarios. The Volcano Engine technical team provided detailed explanations of industry requirements, including standards for high-quality annotated data in large-model training, quality-control systems for complex semantic tasks, and data compliance governance. University representatives, drawing on their disciplinary characteristics and talent-development programs, proposed concrete ideas for implementing industry-education integration through joint development of course modules, introduction of practical projects, and student competency assessment. The exchange generated important consensus for the consortium’s future alignment with real industry needs and optimization of its talent-development system.

As one of the first data annotation enterprises to sign an agreement and enter the Volcano Factory AI Agent Industrial Park, Grouphorse Group has, since its entry in March 2026, relied on Volcano Engine’s technology foundation and the park’s industrial ecosystem, focusing on high-quality semantic data supply and data governance capacity building while continuously developing the integrated direction of “Language × AI × Compliance.” The two sides have established a collaborative closed loop of “technology foundation—platform enablement—industrial clustering—data supply,” with Grouphorse’s expert annotation capabilities and standardized quality-control system supporting model training, evaluation iteration, and application deployment for AI Agent enterprises and industry scenario providers in the park.

Organizing consortium university members to visit Volcano Engine was a concrete demonstration of Grouphorse’s role as an ecosystem hub and its efforts to channel industrial resources toward education. Since its launch in Yangpu in May this year, the Data Annotation and Intelligent Data Governance Industry-Education Integration Consortium has remained focused on its core positioning of “serving university development and industry needs while balancing educational attributes and industrial value.” Driven by real industry projects, it aims to connect the integrated talent-development chain of “courses—projects—practical training—certification—employment.” As an important industrial technology support partner of the consortium, Volcano Engine previously stated at the consortium launch that it would leverage its capabilities in large models, data governance, and AI cloud-native infrastructure to help connect the technological foundation, industrial scenarios, university resources, and talent development.

University representatives participating in the visit said that the opportunity to experience the frontline of a leading technology company gave them a direct sense of the pace of technological iteration in the AI industry and actual talent needs, providing clear industry reference points for adjusting professional training directions, developing relevant course modules, and advancing practical-training base construction. Student representatives also said that close exposure to cutting-edge technologies and the industrial ecosystem further clarified career development pathways in data annotation and intelligent data governance and increased their confidence in participating in industrial practical training and contributing to the AI industry.

Going forward, the Data Annotation and Intelligent Data Governance Industry-Education Integration Consortium will continue to deepen collaboration with leading industry platforms such as Volcano Engine, bring more real-world industry scenarios and annotation tasks into universities, jointly develop courses and practical modules suited to different institutions and disciplinary backgrounds, and co-build demonstration bases for industry-education integration, thereby supplying the AI industry with high-quality application-oriented talent equipped with both professional competence and practical skills.
